Filming in Washington: past, present & future

blog post 32.jpg

With the additional exposure Captain Fantastic has received as a result of Viggo Mortensen’s Academy Award nomination, I’ve recently had some opportunities to talk about filming on location in Washington.  Seattle’s Film & Music office recently interviewed me about the locations that were featured in the film, you can check out our conversation here.

I also had a chance to give another presentation at the SIFF Film Center about movies that have shot in Washington.   It’s a lot of fun looking at clips from movies going back as far as Elvis in It Happened at the World’s Fair, as well as classics like Sleepless in SeattleThe Fabulous Baker Boys and John Wayne’s McQ.  We also talk a lot about Seattle’s independent film scene and what the future of film in Washington might hold. SIFF will schedule the seminar again in the fall, if you’re interested please come join us!
